DoorWatchBeacon is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate this site earns from qualifying purchases.
What that means in practice
Every link to a product on this site carries a tag identifying DoorWatchBeacon. If you follow one and buy something, this site receives a commission. The price you pay is unaffected. There are 39 such listings across 6 categories, and every page carrying them says so at the top and again at the bottom.
What it does not affect
- Ordering. Products are ordered by how well they answer the stated job of their category, and the reasoning for each badge is printed on the page next to the badge.
- The free measures. On every entry point page the things that cost nothing are printed above the things that cost money, and they earn this site nothing.
- The honest sentence. Where a product does not do something people assume it does — a doorbell camera does not reduce package theft, a wedge is not a security device — the page says so.
- The refusals. No product on this site is described as preventing a break-in or making a home safe, however that would read on a listing.
What is never quoted
Prices, ratings and subscription rates. All three change frequently, and a site that printed them would be wrong within weeks while still looking authoritative. Comparisons here are on properties that stay true: whether a listing states local storage, whether a fitting is reversible, how many screws are in the box.
Listing statements
Where a listing makes a claim — a load figure in pounds, a certification, a battery life in years — it is reported here in those terms, as something the listing states. This site has not tested any product and does not present any such number as verified.
